New Delhi: Two men have been arrested for allegedly firing in the air at a wedding following a dispute over the amount of ‘Mehr’ to be paid by the groom’s family to the bride, police said today.
Police said the incident took place in Geeta Colony around 2 last night when the groom’s family, hailing from Najafgarh, tried to convince the bride’s kin to reduce the ‘Mehr’ amount, which was earlier fixed at Rs 50,000.
The bride’s family refused to accept, leading to an argument.
Two men, accompanying the groom’s family, then fired in the air, police said.
Police arrested the two men.
