2002 Gujarat riots “gang-rape” convict raped his Muslim wife when he was on parole

Ahmedabad: Suresh Langado Dedawala who was sentenced to 31 years imprisonment for the gang-rape in the 2002 Naroda Patia massacre in which 97 people were killed, raped his Muslim wife when he was released on parole.

His wife filed an application in the City Sessions Court on 1st December. She accused her husband of marital rape when he was out on parole six months ago. She said that Dedawala had raped her and performed unnatural sex.

Dedawala’s wife, mother of two children also sought police protection as her in-laws and her 16-year-old son had allegedly threatened her.

It is to be noted that the woman had broken all her relations with her parents two decades ago after marrying Dedawala. However, after the incident of marital rape, she returned to her parents and filed a divorce suit in the family court.
