23 more Engineering colleges likely to be closed down

Hyderabad: Admissions in Engineering Colleges have been reduced. There are more seats that the students. The attraction for getting Engineering education has dwindled. 23 Engineering Colleges are likely to be closed down next year. They have approached All India Council for Technical Education for getting permission to close down their colleges.

It may be noted that during 2014-15, 90 Engineering colleges have already been closed. Now with the closure of 23 engineering colleges, 4000 engineering seats would be less in Telangana State.

It may be mentioned that many Engineering Colleges have become bankrupt due to non-payment of arrears of fees by the Govt. Government of Telangana has not yet released funds for the academic year 2016-17. For the functioning of every Engineering college, it requires Rs. 5-6 crores every month. Earlier, these colleges used to take loans from private sources but due to demonetization, even these chances have come to an end.
