3 held for illicit liquor supply

New Delhi: Three persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in transportation of illicit liquor from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in two separate cases and 40 cartons have been recovered, police said today.

On February 27, when police was involved in routine inspection in Vishwas Nagar, a tempo was stopped and checked.

The driver, Anil Kumar, was arrested since the tempo contained illicit liquor, said DCP (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad.

During interrogation, Anil disclosed that the owner of the vehicle was Prabhat Sharma and several cartons of illegal liquor were stored his factory at Mandoli Extension, Prasad said.

Liquor was to be supplied to UP for the festival of Holi.

In the second case, a team of Vivek Vihar police caught one Devi Dayal while on patrolling duty on February 27, she said.

He was carrying seven cartons of illicit liquor and was apprehended from Jwala Nagar and told police the liquor was to be sold in Haryana.
