4 suspected thieves arrested

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested four suspected members of a gang, allegedly involved in car and motorcycle theft.

A Honda City car, three motorcycles and two pistols with cartridges were seized from them.

The arrested were Sajjid (20), Zafar (22) and Tarakul (20), all natives of West Bengal, and Toshin Ali (19), a resident of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh.

They have been staying at a rented accommodation in Delhi for the past several years.

Police had received a complaint from a third-year journalism student, who was robbed of his Honda City car from Dwarka Sector 10 on May 26.

The complainant had gone to dine at a restaurant and had parked his car outside it. At around 11 pm when he was returning hom, the three accused appeared and took away his car at gunpoint.

A police team which reached the spot inspected the scene of the crime and found an abandoned motorcycle nearby.

The motorcycle was found to be damaged in the front and some traces of flakes were found on the headlight of motorcycle which appeared to be matching with the colour of the robbed car.

The crime scene suggested that the motorcycle had met with an accident with the robbed car and the rider was shifted to a hospital.

The policemen then scrutinised all calls of accidents received at that time, leading them to DDU Hospital where one of accused, Sajjid, was admitted.

After interrogation, he was arrested. Later, his aides were arrested from Gaziabad. The accused had 17 cases of robbery, theft and snatching registered against them.
