404 families get Rs 11.80 cr compensation

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today handed over cheques for Rs 11.80 crore towards compensation to families who were displaced by Akkannapet Railway line in Medak district. With this, as many as 404 families affected for paving way for the Railway line were benefited.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the State government will provide help to such families, who are sacrificing their assets for development programs in the State. He also said the victims will get welfare schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak.

Harish Rao said the TRS Government was committed to extend welfare schemes to the poor and needy classes, he maintained. Stating that the victims of Singur project were yet to get suitable compensation, the minister said the government will soon offer them suitable ex gratia and other benefits. He also said the government will provide a helping hand to sugarcane farmers of MDSL Company. Steps will be taken soon to set up a Jaggery purchase center in Medak town, Harish Rao declared. (NSS)
