42 people killed in Syria’s Homs by deadly twin bomb blast

Beirut: At least 42 people killed and dozens more wounded in twin car bomb blasts in the Syrian city of Homs on Sunday.

It is one of the deadliest attack in the city in five years of civil war, the attack took place near the entrance to the al-Arman neighbourhood in Homs city.

Homs city is almost completely controlled by the Syrian government, and has regularly been targeted in bomb attacks. The broadcasts footage shows the air thick with dust and smoke rising from blazes started by the blasts.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 46, adding that among those killed were 28 civilians.

Rami Abdulrahman the observatory director said the attack was the second most deadly of its kind in Homs since 2011, and the deadliest for almost a year and a half.
