6.4 magnitude earthquake jolts southern Taiwan

Tainan (Taiwan): A massive earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit southern Taiwan on Saturday, leaving at least three-people dead.

According to reports, Tainan in southern Taiwan was worst hit by the quake, where a 17-story residential building collapsed, leaving scores of people injured.

The epicentre of the quake was located around 48 kilometers southeast of Tainan, at a depth of around 10 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

More than 150 people have been hospitalized in Tainan so far, reported CNN.

President Ma Ying-jeou is on his way to Tainan, which is Taiwan’s oldest city and home to more than 2 million people. (ANI)
