60 Minority Gurukul Schools in 2016: CM


Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the authorities concerned to begin 60 Minority Gurukul Schools from next academic year as part of opening them in119 Assembly segments. He also asked the officials to shift Chanchalguda Jail and Race Course in Malakpet for construction of residential schools for Minority girls and boys.

At a high level review meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali and other officials on Minority Welfare at Secretariat here on Saturday, the Chief Minister said 30 Minority Gurukul schools each for boys and girls should be opened by recruiting 2100 teaching staff and other non-teaching by giving training by next June. He also asked them to come up with plans to initiate new schemes to provide employment opportunities to the minority youth and financial assistance to the youth in the State.

The Chief Minister expressed concern on the low literacy rate among Minorities and more number of school dropouts. A special action plan should be commenced to check the problem and provide employment to the minorities through proper training and improving skills, he directed. “Since Hyderabad has more Muslim population, we need to provide them education through residential schools in Malakpet by shifting Chanchalguda prison and Race Course”, he felt. KCR also stated that Telangana has 12 per cent of Muslim population, who comprise poor and are deprived of basic amenities and steps must be taken to improve their living standards.

In first year, the schools will function in rented buildings and next year in permanent buildings to provide 100 per cent education with quality with English Medium teaching and Urdu an optional language. These schools will function as that of SC Residential Schools. To get rid of the money lenders harassment, a scheme will be launched to help hawkers and vendors of Muslim Minority, KCR said. (NSS)
