Mumbai: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by unidentified persons in suburban Mulund in the city, police said on Sunday.
The girl went missing last night while playing near her residence in Mulund (East), a senior police official said.
Her family approached police, who found the girl in an unconscious state under a truck parked near her house. She was rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead, said the official.
Preliminary probe revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted and murdered, the official said.
A case under relevant sections of IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Navghar police station, police said, adding based on the CCTV footage a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
