Jeddah: The Saudi government has allowed major builder Binladin Group to resume bidding for state projects,a senior Binladin executive said.

The construction giant has been struggling since last September when the government refused to grant it additional contracts after the crane crash incident in Grand Mosque of Makkah that killed 107 people.

According to Reuters, the company has now received a royal decree allowing it to bid for state contracts again.

A travel ban which was imposed on its top managers after the disaster has also been lifted, al-Watan quoted an unnamed source as saying.

In addition, Binladin would resume work at the multi-billion dollar King Abdulaziz International Airport project in Jeddah.
