AAP relaunches Apprenticeship Training scheme for Delhi youth

New Delhi: To boost employability of Delhi youth, AAP government today relaunched the ‘Apprenticeship Training Scheme’ in the national capital.

Of 2.5 lakh students who pass out of the class XII every year in the capital, nearly 1.25 lakh fail to get college admission, therefore the scheme will benefit them, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

In fact, the government wants even those youngsters who are taking college admission to enroll for apprenticeship, he said.

Sisodia said he would like to introduce the scheme in all 1000 Delhi government schools so that vocational training can be mainstreamed.

CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Jayant Krishna, applauded Delhi government’s initiative and said that revised Apprenticeship Act is a great reform which has happened after 50 years.

He exhorted the industry to take advantage of the changes in the Apprenticeship Act and employ a large number of apprentices at their work places.
