Achieve 100% rural electrification in tribal households: CM


Andhra Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in the energy sector, Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministeri N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the energy department/Power utilities to achieve 100 per cent household rural electrification in tribal areas.

In order to further improve the service standards to the consumers and to reduce the transmission distribution losses to single digit, the Chief Minister emphasized on providing quality power supply on par with international standards and asked the officials to prepare a comprehensive project-wise action plan.

The Chief Minister was informed that the transmission loss is currently at 10.08 percent In this regard, he set a target to reduce P&D losses by 5%within 3 years. It has also been decided “Complete the high voltage distribution system within 2 years to ensure quality power supply and reduce the losses,” he said.

Elaborating on the progress and achievement of the energy sector, Principal Secretary (Energy) Ajay Jain informed the Chief Minister that AP Genco has generated 4,000 MW electricity in the last two years. The construction of 765 kV double circuit (ER-SR) lines interlinking PGCIL (CTU) Angul-Srikakulam-Vemagiri will be completed by June.

 The officials also informed the Chief Minister that AP Transco is setting up transmission system for 1000MW solar park that will be constructed in Kurnool district.
