Action against illegal assets soon: Talasani


Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the State government will initiate stringent action against illegal structures, unauthorized buildings and lands under the purview of GHMC and HMDA after giving them a final chance to regularise. The government was unhappy with these illegal structures and lands which are coming in the way of the government which plans to transform Hyderabad into a global city, he said.

The minister chaired the third consecutive meeting of Cabinet Sub-Committee on the issue at Secretariat here attended by the committee members — Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, T Padma Rao Goud while Home Minister Narsimha Reddy could not turn up.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Srinivas Yadav the government wants everything to go online and check the maladies of illegal lands and unauthorized structures existing at lakes, low-lying areas and narrow passages. “There is need for constructing two more reservoirs to cater to the growing drinking water needs of the people of the twin cities, better roads, address traffic snarls, sanitation and infrastructure”, he said, adding that dustbins and autos under Swacch Hyderabad program will be distributed among households and drivers soon.

“We have discussed at length on the need for streamlining them to provide better facilities and infrastructure in the area to help it acquire a global look. Another meeting, which may be final, will make final recommendations and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will take a final call in this regard, he said.
