Admit children in schools where Urdu is taught – Mr. Zahid Ali Khan

Hyderabad: Some miscreants are making an attempt to meddle with Urdu language but Urdu is so powerful that it cannot be eradicated from the scene. It is spreading in various parts of the world. By declaring Urdu as a second official language of the State, Govt. of Telangana is promoting Urdu Academy and other institutions. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while addressing a felicitation function of Dr. Syed Mustafa Kamal, Editor of Shugoofa Urdu monthly at Ravindra Bharati yesterday.

Continuing his address, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that when India was under the British rule, all the Indians used Urdu language for fight the war of Independence. It is therefore, there is no way out for the politicians and social activists except to learn Urdu in all the functions, rallies, Assembly and Parliament proceedings. They are quoting Urdu couplets in all these functions.

The felicitation function was organized by Dept. of Language and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Telangana to honour Dr. Syed Mustafa Kamal, Editor of Shugoofa Urdu monthly.

He advised the parents and guardians to admit their children in schools where Urdu is taught as a subject, otherwise the younger generation would be totally ignorant of Urdu. He told that Urdu journals and newspapers are serving the cause of Urdu. He called the services of late Mr. Abid Ali Khan, founder editor of Siasat Urdu Daily. He mentioned the popularity of Siasat and said that more than 30 lakh users visit Siasat’s website daily in 305 major cities of 170 countries.

Mr. Narender Luther, former Chief Secretary told that whatever a journalist sees in his daily life, he writes it. Mr. M.E. Krishna, Director of Dept. of Language and Culture told that Urdu is a very sweet language. It cannot be wiped off. Dr. Abbas Muttaqui, Dr. Aleem Khan (Jeddah), Mr. Faiyaz Ahmed Faizi and others spoke on this occasion. Dr. Javeed Kamal conducted the meeting. Dr. Mohammed Ali Rafat, IAS (Retd.) member of APPSC thanked the audience.
