Mumbai : Describing the conferring of Afghanistan’s highest civilian honour, the Amir Amanullah Khan Award, upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘proud moment’ for the country, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday lauded the Prime Minister for ‘uniting the world for peace’.
Fadnavis took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his views.
“Afghanistan conferred its highest civilian honour Amir Amanullah Khan Award on Hon @narendramodi ji. Proud moment!,” he tweeted.
“Maharashtra salutes Hon @narendramodi ji’s unique leadership for uniting the world for peace and thanks Afghanistan for honouring it!,” his another tweet said.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a five nation trip, was on Saturday conferred with the Amir Amanullah Khan Award by Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, after both the leaders jointly inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam in Herat.
Earlier known as Salma Dam, Afghan-India Friendship Dam is a landmark infrastructure project undertaken by the Indian government on the River Chist-e-Sharif in Herat. (ANI)
