Ambedkar’s vision not fully understood: PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec. 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s economic thought and vision is still not fully understood, even though his contribution towards social justice has been fully recognised.

“There were only a few individuals who remain alive in public consciousness, even 60 years after their death. While his contributions towards social justice have been recognized, his economic thought and vision is still not fully understood, and it needs to be appreciated,” Prime Minister Modi said.

He further said that Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution of India should always be discussed and talked about in the country, adding that the observance of Constitution Day on November 26 was a step in that direction.

The Prime Minister also appreciated Dr.Ambedkar’s vision on issues such as women empowerment, India’s federal structure, finance and education.

Prime Minister Modi today released two commemorative coins as part of the 125th birth anniversary year celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar.

The coins, which are of ’10-rupee’ and ‘125-rupee’ denomination, were issued on the ‘Mahaparinirvan Divas’ of Dr. Ambedkar.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi paid floral tribute at the Dalit mascot’s statue in Parliament House lawns. “Remembering Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Punya Tithi,” he posted on his Twitter account. (ANI)
