Amit Shah to address party workers in Surat tomorrow

Ahmedabad: BJP chief Amit Shah, who is scheduled to address party workers from southern Gujarat at Anaval village in Surat district tomorrow, arrived here today.

Around one lakh ‘page presidents’ from eight districts of south Gujarat would gather at Anaval tomorrow to seek guidance from Amit Shah to achieve thumping victory in the upcoming state Assembly polls, to be held later this year, a release issued by the Gujarat BJP said.

A page president is a ground-level party leader, who is given the task of handling around 30 voters of a particular booth. One page of an electoral roll usually contains details of 30 voters, hence the term page president.

Gujarat BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani along with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and many other state ministers and leaders would be present at the event, the release added.

Last month, Shah had addressed a similar gathering of page presidents of party’s Saurashtra zone in Junagadh, where he exhorted them to wipe out Congress from the state in the upcoming state elections.
