Did Amrita Singh blast ex-husband Saif Ali Khan for his take on Sara Ali Khan’s Bollywood debut?

MUMBAI: Actor Saif Ali Khan has never shown qualms in speaking his mind. But his recent statement hasn’t gone down well with his first wife.

In one of his interview to DNA, Saif expressed his anguish regarding his eldest daughter Sara Ali Khan’s decision to join the showbiz industry as it doesn’t promise any stability. He also stated that he isn’t too happy with her decision.

“Why would she want that for herself? Look at where she studied. After having done that, why wouldn’t she want to live and work in New York, rather than do this? I am not looking down on acting, it’s just it is not the most stable profession. And everyone lives in constant fear. And there is no guarantee that despite doing your best, you will succeed. This is not the life, any parent would want for their children,” Saif told DNA.

But a few days after his interview to DNA, Saif mentioned in a media interaction that he was misconstrued. At the IIFA press conference, the actor told PTI, “It’s annoying when you give a nice interview and people pick up one line and talk about it; it’s irritating. I support my daughter and I love her. I think her choice is great. Of course, she is an actress and she comes from a family of artistes. I am still a little concerned for her as it’s an unsure profession. I love her so I worry for her.”

This statement hasn’t been liked by former wife Amrita, who, as DNA states, blasted him.

“She told him it was an irresponsible thing to say considering Sara is about to embark on a film career,” a source was quoted as telling the daily.

“Saif didn’t want to be dragged into an argument, so he mumbled that he was ‘quoted out of context’ and calmed down his former wife,” the source added.

Sara is all set to make her acting debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath. The film will be helmed by Abhishek Kapoor, who has directed Sushant in his debut movie Kai Po Che.

“Sara has been roped in to play love interest to Sushant in the film, to be directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The modalities regarding the project are being worked out at the moment,” sources told PTI.

Balaji Motion Pictures is expected to join hands with KriArj Entertainment for the romantic drama. The film is expected to go on floors by this year end.
