AP CS orders construction of CC roads in villages


Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao issued instructions to the concerned for construction of CC Roads in the villages under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme across the State and also said for convergence of funds to complete these projects.

The Chief Secretary convened a meeting today with Panchayat Raj and Rural Development authorities to review on the action plan for construction of CC Roads for all the internal roads in the villages in next four years under MGNREGA Scheme. Officials informed the requirements for laying all internal roads with CC for next four years. Total identified length of internal roads in the state 55616 KMs and 29089 KMs of CC roads balance are targeted for the next four years.

Krishna Rao said that the officials should focus to complete all the roads in the villages within the targeted period and on priority the Government took a decision to develop the rural areas in the State.

As per the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Nadu in a teleconference held today, the Chief Secretary reviewed on construction of Farm Ponds. Total 180000 Farm Ponds have been targeted for construction in all the Districts with an earmarked budget of Rs.900 Crores. Funds towards expenditure would be released through online only as per the norms of Government of India for this purpose, Chief Secretary said.

The Chief Secretary spoken with the District Collectors of Ananthapur and Kurnool over phone and permitted them to initiate works for construction of Farm Ponds as per norms to fulfil the demand of irrigation potential in agriculture. As supplementary irrigation water Farm Pond management will play an important role for agriculture and industrial purpose. Farm ponds are manmade tanks constructed for holding water which could be used during scarce season to ensure lifesaving irrigation for the uninterrupted physiological activities of the crops.

Spl. Chief Secretary Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Dinesh Kumar, Prl. Secretary Jawahar Reddy, Secretary Finance M. Ravichandra and others attended the meeting. (INN)
