AP Govt Signs Agreement for LED Street Lighting in Panchayats

In yet another significant development in energy efficiency front, the A P Government has entered into an agreement with Govt. of India for replacement of 10 Lakh Conventional Street Lights with Energy efficient LED street lighting in 7024 gram panchayats in the initial phase, which is a great boon for overall welfare of the people and economic development of Villages.

In the presence of Chief Secretary, GoAP,  Dinesh Kumar, the Panachayat Raj Dept, APSEEDCO and EESL, GoI have entered  into Tripartite agreement today for ‘Panchayat LED street lighting’, under which the Panchayats are expected to save around Rs.165 Crore, without any upfront investment from state govt. The EESL shall invest around Rs.245 Crore, complete the project within nine months and provide free repair and maintenance of streetlights for 10 years.

The Chief Secretary said on the occasion that Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu is committed for making AP as one of the World’s best Energy efficient state. Under the C.M’s guidance, AP has achieved unique status of First state to have 100% LED municipal street lighting and is now the first state to take up Village LED street lighting in a huge scale.The Govt is determined for 100% Village LED street lighting by15th August 2018, under which around 30 Lakhs LED street lights are to be installed..

            Nara Lokesh, Minister, Panchayat Raj & IT in a special message read by  K.S.Jawahar Reddy, Prl.            secretary, PR & RD Dept. said that  “Enhancement of quality of life with better illumination & Safety of People is Govt’s top most priority”.

On behalf of PR & RD, GoAp,  B.Ramanjeneyulu, .A.Chandra Sekhara Reddy, CEO & MD,APSEEDCO, and  Jaspal Singh, CGM, EESL, GoI, have signed on the Tripartite agreement in the presence of Chief Secretary & Prl.Secy, PR & RD Dept,  M.M. Nayak, CMD/APEPDCL,  K.Ranganatham, Advisor, Energy I&I Dept (NSS)
