AP police release second sketch of ‘needle psycho’

A second sketch of the psychopath, who triggered panic by allegedly attacking 11 women with an injection, has been released by police in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district.

Narsapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sowmaya Latha today said a meeting with the victims was held yesterday.

“We collected inputs about the accused, aged between 25 and 30, and based on it a second sketch was released,” the officer said.

“Police have been intensified the searches and are keeping a check at entrance and exit points of the district,” she said.

“Over 40 special teams has been formed to nab the ‘needle psycho’. We also received 6-7 fake psycho attack complaints from people. After enquiry, we found those were not related to this case,” the officer added.

The victims did not suffer from any other illness after being pricked by the injection, the DSP earlier said.

A needle left behind by the accused during an attack was recovered and sent for testing. However, no medicine or substance was found in it, she had said.

Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (Law and order) R P Thakur has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who could help the police in nabbing the culprit.

District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bhushan also asked the people not to panic and urged them to provide any concrete information about the person to police.
