Apple unveils iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3 at WWDC 2016

San Francisco : The much awaited Apple’s WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) 2016, which kicked off yesterday witnessed major announcements like updates to OS’ for the Mac, iPhone, Watch and TV.

The other major announcements were opening Siri and iMessage to the developers.

The company at its keynote address also revealed that OS X is being rebranded to macOS with the next version being called macOS Sierra, the Verge reports.

The new update in Messages app saw Emojis playing a bigger role as iOS 10 would now automatically suggest emojis that can replace a particular word in a message. For instance, one can simply go for emojis for words like basketball and swimming instead by just tapping on selected word.

The new macOS features also include the ability to unlock one’s Mac with one’s Apple Watch, the addition of a Universal Clipboard which works across devices and finally the biggest addition – Siri for Mac.

The watchOS 3 brings a host of updates, for instance it can loads apps seven times faster than the previous OS. Other new features include a keyboard called ‘Scribble’ that wearers can use to respond to a message by just typing in their own handwriting. It works in either English or Chinese.

The tvOS now hosts 1,300 video channels and over 6,000 apps. (ANI)
