Aquiring land for Pharma City as per law: KTR

Stating that the first phase of Pharma City will be operational by the end of 2018, Industries Minister KT Ramarao has said the State government was acquiring land for Pharma City as per law and there should be public hearing only after the government gets environmental clearance.

Responding to a question raised by KP Vivekanand, Malipedi Sudheer Reddy, Challa Vamshichand Reddy, Tammannagari Ram Mohan Reddy, Dr G Chinna Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar, the Minister said the draft master plan for Pharma City was under preparation. He said an extent of 5646.32 gts (Phase-I) was in possession of TSIIC till date. The total investment was about Rs 75,000 crore. He said the State government was applying Land Acquisition Act-2013 where the people were giving their consent.

Kalwakurthy MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy said the government was introducing “meaningless” Acts in acquiring land and the government was not considering the pollution problems. He said the government was acquiring 4,080 acres in his constituency without conducting a public hearing. He also alleged that the State government has become a land grabber instead of being protector of poor people’s lands.

Alampur MLA SA Sampath Kumar alleged that the State government was showing discrimination in extending compensation to the land losers. He alleged that the government was not acquiring lands in Gajwel constituency afraid of public opposition and the same government was forcefully acquiring land in other constituencies. TRS MLAs Teegala Krishna Reddy and Manchireddy Kishan Reddy expressed happiness over land acquisition from the people. BJP’s Kishan Reddy asked the government to conduct a re-survey and give compensation depending on the report.

Reacting to it, KTR said the government would set up Pharma City pollution-free. It would also implement zero liquid discharge system and it will set up common affluent treatment plants worth 250MLD and will see that the solid base discharge will not pollute the environment. He also urged the Opposition parties to extend their cooperation and convince the Sate government in getting adequate compensation to the land losers. (NSS)
