Army extends helping hand to veterans and their families

Jammu : The Indian Army fulfilling its resolve and commitment to look after the welfare and well being of the veterans and their families has come forward and provided financial assistance to the veterans and elderly widows of deceased soldiers of Pargwal area near Akhnoor for repair of severely damaged houses which suffered damages due to inclement weather last year.

The affected individuals approached the Army authorities deployed at Pargwal and Chenab Brigade for financial assistance.

The Army authorities acted proactively to assist the veterans and their families wherein financial assistance was provided to veterans and two elderly widows by the Rising Star Corps.

In a ceremony organised at Pargwal for Veterans and village heads on March 12, cheques of Rs. 30,000/-, Rs. 40,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- were personally handed over by the General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division, Major General Sanjeev Narain to Sepoy Kehar Singh (Retired), 62 -year old Bimla Devi,widow of Late Sepoy Braham Dev and 80-year old Kamla Devi, widow of Late Lance Naik Jamit Singh respectively.

The assistance has been widely appreciated by the locals and the veteran community. (ANI)
