Army kills three militants, busts camp in Assam

Guwahati: The Indian Army has killed three militants belonging to the Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) in a security operation in Assam and busted a “large training camp”, an official said on Wednesday.

The militants were killed in a fierce gun battle near Duni Tokbi Gaon in Karbi Anglong district during a joint operation by security forces, the army official said in a statement.

The statement, however, did not mention when the joint operation took place.

It said the operation was launched following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

“The hiding militants opened fire at the search parties and tried to flee. However, the security forces plugged the escape routes and engaged the militants,” the statement said.

Security forces also busted a well-concealed hideout and recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition.

The slain militants included a self-styled commander of KPLT.
