Army men allegedly ask Quamar Begum to remove her veil, assault her brother in Mehdipatnam Military area

Hyderabad: Ms. Quamar Begum, a resident of Siddique Nagar, First Lancers was passing through Military area of Mehdipatnam along with her brother, Abdul Nabi and other relatives after getting her son examined in the hospital. She was stopped and asked to produce gate pass which she did not have. She was forced to remove her veil. Her relatives became angry and asked the army men to behave properly, on which, they assaulted Abdul Nabi. On hearing this news, a large number of local residences assembled in front of Mehdipatnam garrison. They demanded stern action to be taken against army men. They said that such incidents have become common. Earlier, a minor boy Mustafa had died in the suspicious condition in the military area.

DCP of West Zone, Mr. Venkateshwar Rao and ACP of Asif Nagar, Mr. Mohammed Ghouse Mohiuddin reached the spot and assured the protesters that action would be taken against the accused soon.

Abdul Nabi lodged a complaint at Humayun Nagar Police Station against Krishna Dagar and two other army men under section 341 and 323 of IPC. Mr. Anokha, Army Officer of Garrison assured the police that investigation would be completed within two days. The recordings of CCTV Cameras are being analyzed.

It may be mentioned that in Siddiqui Nagar, Mehdipatnam, there is a military garrison which is causing a lot of difficulties for the commuters since it is compulsory to have gate pass and to wear a helmet to pass through the area.
