ARRANGEMENTS FOR BONALU

The GHMC has made all arrangements for prestigious Bonalu festival , said Somesh Kumar, Commissioner & Special Officer, GHMC.

The works pertaining to lighting, fogging, parking of the vehicles, recarpeting of roads, coloring of temples and sanitation are being planned in a appropriate and in a phased manner for which the GHMC has allocated a budget of Rs. 10 crores, he said.

The Commissioner said that bonalu has already started in Golkonda and now being celebrated in all the 18 circles in the coming days, thousands of people are going to participate in the bonalu festival for the said festival facilities at the temples nearly 345 works have been sanctioned with a cost of Rs. 9.98 crores and the works are in progress.

The same funds will be utilized for decoration of temples, recarpeting of roads and other major works for the convenience of the citizens to participate in the bonalu festival for the above said works almost tenders have already been called for and are in process. The main areas in the old cities where the procession is going to take place have been identified and all elaborate arrangements are being taken up, for lighting arrangements at South Zone Rs. 15, 80,000/-, West Zone, Rs. 15, 26,000/- Central Zone Rs. 20,50,000/- have been allocated and all the works are in progress, he added.

The Commissioner said that the main procession which is scheduled to be held on 2nd August 2015 and all necessary arrangements for the convenience of the participants in the bonalu festival have been taken up enroute.

Nayini Narsimha Reddy, Home Minister, T. Padma Rao, Excise Minister along with Commissioner & Special Officer have already been inspected at Golkonda areas last week. The Commissioner & Special Officer along with senior officials of the GHMC has inspected today some of the areas of Laldarwaza Mahankali temple where the bonalus are celebrating in the coming days.

Mahender Reddy, IPS, Commissioner of Police has also participated at the inspection of Laldarwaza. (NSS)
