Arrested Muslim youths for alleged ISIS contact released, police serve notice to TV channel

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Hyderabad police have issued a notice to a newly launched news channel asking it to give proof against three youths allegedly associated with Jehadi activities.

In the meanwhile Abdullah Basith, Salman Mohiuddin Quadri and Hanan Qureshi who were picked up yesterday were released by the SIT after a day long interrogation.However the trio were booked under stringent IPC sections of sedition and Unlawful activities act. In 2015 they were arrested for their alleged links with ISIS.

The newly launched news channel “Republic TV” two days ago telecasted the purported interviews of three youths claiming still continuing links with Islamic State.Basing on the reports the police swung into action and picked up for interrogation.

On Thursday the Deputy Commissioner of Police Detective Department Avinash Mohanty issued notice to Republic TV channel asking it to provide corroborating evidence against three youths whose interviews were aired.

However Basith,Salman and Qureshi were released this afternoon by the SIT officials, after they were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate at Hyderabad Collectrate.The further investigation will be carried out by the cops after the TV channel gives evidence against the youths.
