Asad Uddin Owaisi comments on PM Modi’s Anti-cow terrorism speech

NEW DELHI: “Just words”, “Mere lip service” and “Not enough” were the comments through which Asaduddin Owaisi along with Mamata Banerjee  dismissed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s condemnation of cow protection-related violence on Thursday.

“Walk the talk Mr. PM” tweeted Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen Party.

Stating that the PM’s words are “mere lip service“, Owaisi said there “has been (a) slip” between the proverbial “cup & lip“.

Referring to the PM’s comments from last October, when he spoke about the lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq, eight days after it occurred in Dadri, Owaisi said PM has spoken twice on the issue, but it hasn’t ‘had desired effect’

Referring to RSS Owaisi said the PM’s comment last won’t effect since “cow protectors get direct/indirect support of BJP/Sangh”

“Why the three alleged killers of Pahlu Khan are yet to be arrested?” Owaisi asked simultaneously answering “It’s because BJP is in power in Rajasthan”.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee condemned the recent “killings taking place in the name of gau raksha (cow worship)”.

“The Prime Minister should ask himself as to who has created this atmosphere of lawlessness in the country. Pro forma condemnations are not enough. The Prime Minister must reaffirm that he believes in the founding values of the Indian state,” Congress spokesperson and former Union Minister Manish Tewari told IANS.

The National Conference’s Omar Abdullah hoped people take the PM’s “words to heart”.

“Mahatma Gandhi wouldn’t have approved such killings in the name of Gau Bhakti (cow worship)”Modi said in Ahmedabad on Thursday labeling it “not acceptable”
