Asha workers end stir on Kavitha’s assurance

Asha workers have floated a new association called “Telangana Asha Workers Association” here on Sunday.

Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday, Association State convener B Radhika said they were calling off their strike and resuming duties immediately as Nizamabad MP K Kavitha told them that she would raise their issue (Asha workers) in Parliament. Besides, Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao also assured them that the State government would consider their problems if they resumed duties, she said, adding they have formed the new association. Radhika also said they would support all the programs of the TRS government and brought their issues to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s notice to find a solution to their problems.

She said they will organize association’s inaugural meeting and invite the Chief Minister. She said they would place before the Chief Minister their problems like salary on par with Anganvadis with the cooperation of the Centre; absorption of eligible Asha workers as second ANMs; provision of accidental insurance; pregnancy leaves; pension, gratuity and pay hike on par with State government employees.
