ASI, constable caught accepting bribe

New Delhi: An Assistant Sub Inspector and a constable have been arrested today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in Jhunjunu district, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials said.

The accused, posted with Khetri police station, had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from one Ajit Jat to remove his name from an abetment of suicide case, they added.

Jat lodged a complaint against the ASI, also the investigating officer of his case, and the constable with the ACB yesterday, officials said.

After verification of the complaint a trap was laid today and they were caught accepting the bribe, officials said.

The accused have been arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act.
