Ask ‘anti-farmer’ Radha Mohan Singh to remain silent: Congress tells PM

New Delhi, July 26 : The Congress Party on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ask Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh to remain silent, adding that the latter cannot insult the farmers of this country.

“Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan has the cheat to tell this country that farmers are indifferent category. The man who owns the land the man who tills the land .They are all different kind of framers they are not even farmers and they die and they commit suicide because they are love lone ,they are important he tells the country…,” Congress leader Tom Vadakkan told media here.

“It’s time for Prime Minister to tell the Radha Mohan to be silent. He cannot insult the farmers of the country. The man who tills the land owns the land. And now what’s going to happen with this Land Acquisition Bill. It is not Land Acquisition Bill any more. It is life acquision bill of the farmer…,”he added.

He further asked Prime Minister Modi to make his stand clear with regard to the farmers.

“He must speak on behalf of the farmers. He must tell the country what he preach, what he spoke before the elections, that promises. Otherwise, the citizen will believe Lalu Prasad Yadav who said Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)is ‘Bharatiya Jumla party’ … He said that in Bihar the whole country will start believing him,” he added.

Singh had earlier said that love affairs or impotency was the cause of death of more than 1,400 farmers in India this year.

“According to the National Crime Records Bureau, causes of (farmer) suicides include family problems, illness, drugs… dowry, love affairs and impotency,” he said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

The Agriculture Minister, however, did not rule out debt as one of the reasons. (ANI)
