Assam polls: Security stepped up for peaceful counting of votes

Guwahati : Necessary security arrangements are being made for peaceful counting of votes for assembly polls in Assam.

Three tier security measures are being taken as per direction of the Election Commission and central armed police forces will be deployed at counting centres.

Counting will be held at 51 centres on Thursday and the Election Commission has deployed 126 counting observers in Assam and they will reach by Tuesday.

Political parties or candidates have to take prior permission of district administration to hold any victory rallies after counting.

Administration may impose restrictions on holding procession in some areas due to law and order situation.

Assam has a total of 126 assembly seats. (ANI)
