Australia looking forward to India ‘promoting’ renewable energy

Sydney: At the third India-Australia Energy Security Dialogue, Australia is looking forward to India promoting renewable energy and energy-related technologies.
“The ministers had a good start and we look forward to more opportunities to discuss between Australia and Indian companies in promoting renewable energy and energy-related technologies.” Andrew Chew, partner at law firm, Corrs Chambers, Westgarth told ANI.

“The biggest opportunity is actually start the dialogue in terms of what Australia can offer. India is setting up very high standards in terms of their mission and bring the rest of the world along,” he added.

Echoing similar sentiments, Tom Bradbury, Managing Director of GEOS Mining Mineral Consultant lauded India’s initiative in collaborating with the Australian Government towards working on ways to reduce carbon emissions.

“I think, in the long run collaboration and discussion between Australia and India can result in a better world for all,” he added.

The discussions in Sydney will focus on renewable energy and challenges for grid integration, efficient coal-based power generation, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) as well as smart grids and energy efficiency, a union power ministry statement said.

The India-Australia Energy Security Dialogue was instituted following the visit of former Australian premier Julia Gillard to India in October 2012, to discuss areas of mutual interest in energy security and key issues in India and Australia’s energy markets, it added. (ANI)
