Avoid unwanted tests, operations, Ministers tells doctors

Calling upon doctors to avoid unwanted tests and operations to people mainly women that victimized many villages in recent times, Health Minister Dr Ch Lakshma Reddy today exhorted the doctors and medical fraternity to treat on humanitarian grounds the patients coming from far-off places.

The minister was speaking at the valedictory conference of Osmania Medical College Alumni Association here on Sunday. The Health Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will soon lay a foundation for a medical research building on the college premises spending Rs 12 crore and give five vehicles to the medical students. Efforts are on to prevent diseases and help the patients to get early diagnose and treatment on par with global standards at districts also, he said. A limb change center will be set up at the Osmania Medical College and enable operations by supplying life-saving drugs free of cost and construct kidney and liver towers.  The State government will expand dialysis, trauma care centers and improve kidney, liver and pancreatic tests in districts, he said.

Referring to Nanakramguda building collapse incident which took lives of workers from Andhra Pradesh, Lakshma Reddy said on humanitarian grounds, we sent the bodies through special vehicles to their home districts. The people are getting victimized as some hospitals recently fetched bad name by conducting unwanted operations and treatments to women and people that resulted in fatalities. The government introduced a few vehicles to shift bodies to their homes and getting good response from people, he said and asked the doctors and medical fraternity to have humanitarian grounds and treat the patients with utmost care.
