Telangana Government has decided to undertake an awareness drive on seasonal diseases from June 17 to 23 to educate people on the preventive measures. Addressing a video conference held from Ranga Reddy district Collectorate here, Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy told this. He directed the Health Department to educate people on seasonal diseases in coordination with other departments.
Health Minister revealed that seasonal diseases were playing with the lives of people every year and there was loss of human life every season due to lack of awareness on preventive measures among the people.
This situation arises due to flow of new water in drinking water sources, contamination of water, breeding of mosquitoes with stagnation of water near habitations, lack of personal hygiene and sanitation. Outbreak of gastroenteritis, typhoid, cholera, malaria, dengue, swine flu and other diseases is the result of contamination of water and food due to flies and mosquitoes.
