Azaan row: Sonu Nigam’s neighbour actress contradicts loudspeakers claim

MUMBAI: A new piece of information has surfaced days after Sonu Nigam stirred a controversy over calling morning azaan over loudspeakers as religious ‘gundagardi’.

Actress Shraddha Das lives in the vicinity of Sonu Nigam’s home at Versova said that there is no loud noise of Azaan.

After his tweets on the ‘Azaan’ went viral, the Great Grand Masti’ (2016) and ‘Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji’ (2010) actress who is Nigam’s neighbor took to Facebook to contradict the singer’s views.

Shraddha wrote, “There are so many police vans and media outside Sonu Nigam’s house. I live right next to him, can see it from my window since the last few days but strangely I have never heard the Azaan in morning at my place. It is hardly audible. N now I hear he just shaved his head and for the first time there is so much traffic outside our homes.”

Shraddha, however deleted it soon after to avoid controversy getting into trouble over contradicting Sonu’s opinion.

The National Award winning singer’s tweet has clearly divided the film fraternity with actors Anupam Kher, Richa Chadha and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri have come out in support of Nigam.

However, filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, singer Mika Singh, and music director Wajid Khan openly criticised Nigam for his comment.
