Bangladesh crush UAE in low-scoring Asia Cup clash

Mirpur (Dhaka): Bangladesh bowlers produced an incisive performance to help the hosts register a 51-run win over the United Arab Emirates in the third match of the Asia Cup here at Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

Put in to bat, Bangladesh batsmen struggled against an inspiring bowling effort from UAE and made 133 for eight in their stipulated 20 overs.

Opener Mohammad Mithun was the top scorer for the hosts with 47, while Mahmudullah provided some late flourish and remained unbeaten on 36 off 27 balls.

In reply, UAE failed to get a promising start and lost wickets at regular intervals before being eventually bundled out for 82 inside 18 overs.

Mahmudullah was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 36 as well as for claiming two wickets.

The next match of the continental cricket tournament will be played between India and Pakistan on Saturday.
