Basit claims Pakistan wants to work together on terrorism

New Delhi, Nov. 26 : Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Thursday stated that the world should unite to combat terrorism.

Recalling the Mumbai attack on 26/11, he said, “This occasion serves us to remember that terrorism is a common threat to our region whether it is Samjhauta, Mumbai or APS – what happened last year in Peshawar. It’s a common challenge. We need to work together to address this,” Basit told the media here.

Earlier today, floral tributes were paid to the victims on the seventh anniversary of the deadly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis , along with his Cabinet colleagues paid homage to the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Mumbai has been put on alert and security has been beefed up at key installations in the city.

On this day in 2008, ten Pakistani terrorists had arrived by sea route and opened fire indiscriminately at people killing 166, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others, besides damaging property worth crores of rupees.

Ajmal Kasab, a terroist, was captured alive. He was hanged four years later on November 21, 2012.
