Bhatti slams Harish Rao for reducing Tummadi Hatti barrage height

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday slammed Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao for agreeing to the demand of  Maharashtra for restricting the height of the Tummadi Hatti barrage to 148 metres instead of the proposed 152 metres.

Speaking to media persons here, Bhatti said that the decision would badly affect the interest of Telangana State. He said that the decision was not resolution of an inter-state dispute, but an open surrender before the Maharashtra Government. He said due to reduction of height from 152 Metres to 148 Metres, the Tummadi Hatti barrage will now cater to the needs of Adilabad district alone. He said Harish Rao has no knowledge of irrigation projects and took an unwise decision while damaging the interest of Telangana.

Bhatti also accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and other TRS leaders of being negligent on the irrigation projects. He pointed that TRS had given a bandh call on Polavaram project issue. However, the issue has been completely sidelined.

He also dismissed reports of differences within the Congress party and said a section of media was giving more publicity to minor incidents of scuffle between the party workers. (INN)
