Bihar Constable commits suicide for not finding his favorite brand of wine

Patna: Bihar Military Police personnel, Raj Kishore Sharma, 35-year-old has committed suicide by consuming poison in his barrack at Dehri-on Sone in Rohtas district on Tuesday for not getting his favourite brand due to the imposition of complete prohibition in the state.

The Police sources said that Kishore a resident of Kanauli village under Makhdumpur police station in Jehanabad,
was a habitual drunkard,he was also suspended five times because of boozing. His suspension was revoked on March 24.

The Senior officials ruled out by saying that their is a possibility of the constable
committing suicide or others forcibly administering poison to him as they could not find any suicide note in his room.

Commandant Dr Parvez Akhtar said on April 4, Sharma, along with another BMP personnel, had pledged not to consume liquor and even submitted an affidavit in this regard.

The case of unnatural death had been registered and an autopsy was also conducted and further investigation is going on.

Om Prakash Mandal, assistant commissioner, excise said under provisions of the new Bihar Excise (Amendment) Act, 2016, 44 people were arrested in 655 raids and 14,108 litres of domestic liquor and 2,386 litres of foreign brands were seized from across Bihar on Thursday.
