Bill Clinton is a sexual predator: Trump

Washington: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Monday resumed his attacks on Bill Clinton, the husband of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, calling the former US President a sexual “predator” in his first campaign event after the second presidential debate.

“Bill Clinton was the worst abuser of women to ever sit in the Oval Office. He was a predator,” said Trump in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, on his return to the campaign trail after a pause over the weekend and the scandal that erupted with the release of a 2005 videotape on which the mogul is heard making lewd and sexist comments about women, Efe news reported.

The video, with its highly offensive language, spurred many Republican leaders to withdraw their support, or at least distance themselves, from Trump.

The GOP candidate returned to his strategy that the best defence is a good offence by saying that for decades Hillary Clinton has known about her husband’s predatory behavior and, instead of stopping it, enabled him to take advantage of even more women.

A couple of hours prior to the Sunday evening debate, Trump appeared together with four women who had accused the former president of sexual harassment: Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey and Kathy Shelton.

In his campaign speech on Monday, Trump, who is trailing Hillary Clinton in the voter surveys, returned to his regular themes such as criticizing the status quo, which he says the former first lady represents, and his attacks on the media.

He also promised to bring back jobs that have shifted abroad – he said – due to the economic and trade policies of President Barack Obama, whom Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state from 2009-2013.

Trump said that Pennsylvania workers will get their jobs back under his presidency, whereas Clinton would prefer to give those jobs to people who enter the country illegally.

Ambridge is a town near Pittsburgh, which is the country’s former steelmaking capital and has been hard-hit by the twin processes of industrial reconversion and globalization.
