BJP dubs AAP allegation on Jaitley ‘a move to divert attention’

New Delhi, Dec. 17 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lashed out against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for leveling baseless allegations against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in connection with alleged DDCA scam, saying this was a move to divert attention from far more important issues.

“The allegation against the finance minister and the DDCA is completely baseless. This has been done a tactic to divert the issues. When you are caught red handed in a crime and you have nothing to answer. When you say that the CBI should have asked and raided the office at that time they forgot the guidelines of SC and their own words as well,” Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told ANI.

“Now, they have nothing left and that is why they are resorting to hit and run policy. As far as the DDCA matter is concerned the matter is in sub-judice, the court will take action in it, so this move is only a tactic to divert the attention from issues,” he added.

Meanwhile BJP’s National Secretary Srikant Sharma also backed Finance Minister Jaitley, saying no questions can be raised on his integrity after the AAP’s allegations.

“The allegations leveled on Arun Jaitley by Aam Aadmi Party are totally baseless. There can’t be any questions raised on Jaitley ji’s integrity. He has a very dignified political carrier and no party has ever questioned him ever on issues like corruption,” Sharma told ANI.

The AAP had earlier hit out hard at Finance Minister Jaitley over alleged corruption during his tenure as DDCA President.

Addressing the media, AAP leaders Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh collectively stated, “The main objective of CBI raid at Delhi Secretariat and taking control of ACB was to prevent alleged graft in DDCA during Arun Jaitley’s tenure coming to light.”

They added that the scam included siphoning off money by creating fake companies between 1999 and 2013. (ANI)
