BJP hits out Kerala CM for his remark on RSS

Thiruvananthapuram: Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today rejected the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s charges that RSS was trying to impose a Hindu way of life in society and “dictate” what citizens should eat.

Politicos or organisations controlling the eating habits of people was unthinkable and impossible, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rudy said at meet-the-press programme here.

“The RSS is one of the largest organisations in the world and they are hardcore nationalists. The BJP is proud of them and the allegations that it is trying to impose a Hindu way of life is uncalled for and unwarranted,” said Rudy.

Vijayan had flayed the RSS programme ‘Kudumba Parobodhan’ and had said it was actually a move to propagate the values of “Manussmrtiti and Hindu way of life.”

Vijayan had also alleged that the saffron outfit, with the help of the Centre was seeking to change the people’s food habit and dictating them as to what to eat and what to wear.

Referring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the issue, Rudy said, “We worship cow. But we never … never support vigilantism. There is a law and provision. Law cannot be taken into ones hands.”

“We cannot control the taste-buds of individuals,” he said, adding “we are very strong on it.”

Referring to the state CPI secretary Kannam Rajendran’s remark that people across the state has to unite against fascism, Rudy said the BJP knew where the fascism was.

“The government and fascism are synonym in Kerala”, he said.

Hitting out at CPI(M)-led LDF government in the state, Rudy said there were serious law and order problems in certain parts of the state especially in Kannur, which had witnessed series of clashes between the CPI(M )and the BJP-RSS workers.

“There is situation which is very very alarming”, he said and added that his party has to set up camps to protect its cadres in Kerala as it has created in Jammu and Kashmir.

On the three-year rule of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, Rudy said the government had performed well both in the economic and the socio-political fronts.

“We have been able to deliver under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP is surging ahead across the country. Schemes after schemes for the welfare of the people have established the credibility of the government. It is a government for the poor and downtrodden, the women and the unemployed”, he said.

Rudy also rejected the charge that the farmers suicide in the country, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, have increased and said the NDA government’s main agenda was to double the farmers’ income.
