Ahmedabad: Police have arrested a local BJP leader of Gujarat for physically harassing a 13 year-old girl on a flight from Goa to Ahmedabad on Friday last.
He was arrested on Tuesday morning before being booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reported NDTV.
41-year-old Ashok Makwana, is a vice-president in the Gandhinagar unit of the BJP, Gujarat’s ruling party.
The girl’s parents in complaint to police said the passenger seated next to their daughter on the flight had molested her.
Police upon checking the records from the airline found that the seat next to the girl was booked in the name of Mr Ashok friend.
The two men had exchanged seats after boarding the flight, according to the report quoting police.
