BJP parliamentary board meeting today to welcome Amit Shah

New Delhi: The BJP parliamentary board will meet on Thursday to welcome Amit Shah to his second term as party president following his election on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all other members of the party’s highest decision-making body are expected to attend the meeting, official sources said.

Shah, a close confidant of Modi, was elected unopposed with many Union ministers and virtually all party chief ministers and state presidents present at the headquarters in a show of support.

Modi, who was among the leaders to have proposed Shah’s name for a new term, was not present due to his officials engagements.

Veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi had given the exercise a miss and Shah met both of them subsequently. He met Advani on Sunday and Joshi yesterday, party sources said, adding that it was to take their “blessings”.
