BJP protests evacuation of poor in the name of encroachment clearance

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded the State Government to act against the officials who granted permission for illegal constructions encroaching nalas and other water bodies.

A team of party leaders led by its state unit chief Dr. K. Lakshman visited low lying areas near Lower Tank Bund and met the people whose houses were demolished under encroachment clearance drive by the GHMC.

Speaking to media person, Dr Lakshman demanded the government to act tough against the officials who gave permissions for construction on nalas and other government lands. Instead of acting against erring town planning and GHMC officials, the state government is harassing the poor people in the name of encroachment demolition drive. He demanded the government to protect the poor living in the low lying areas by constructing compound walls around the nalas and other water bodies.

He warned of intensifying the protests if the government goes ahead with its plan. He demanded the government to protect the poor living in the low lying areas like Sabarmatinagar, Domalguda, Surajnagar areas near Tank Bund. Unilateral decision of the government is taking toll on the poor, the BJP leader said. (INN)
