BJP questions Congress for opposing ‘Mann ki Baat’

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that the Congress was creating an unnecessary issue by its reported move to approach the Election Commission of India with a request to ban Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ this Sunday.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words are heard by crores of people. The people have full faith in him. The Congress has no right to create an issue out of a non-issue. The Congress wants to silence the Prime Minister,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

The Congress Party is likely to approach the Election Commission seeking a ban on the broadcast of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, which is scheduled to be aired on Sunday.

According to reports, the Congress is citing the Model Code of Conduct, which is presently in place for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as the reason for opposing the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. (ANI)
