BJP resents Kodandaram demand for 12% quota to Muslims

BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao today strongly objected to the demand by Prof. Kodandaram to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for implementing 12% reservations to Muslims. He also demanded Prof Kodandaram to clarify whether his demand was a collective decision of the JAC or a unilateral and hasty decision.

In media statement here on Tuesday, the BJP leader pointed out that the Indian Constitution clearly opposed religion-based reservations and Supreme Court also has clearly ruled against any such provision by either Central or State Governments. KCR’s promise of 12% reservation to Muslims is an election firework. His promise is fake, illegal and unconstitutional and impossible to implement.

“Everyone knows that it is a mean political ploy for political expediency for Muslim votes. BJP believes, his reservation gimmick explicitly amounts to cheating Muslims of the Telangana State through false promises. “BJP wants Muslim brothers and sisters to see through this selfish antic of TRS and CM KCR”, he said. He said BJP respects Prof. Kodandaram for being apolitical and an intellectual fighting for development and welfare of Telangana State. Prof. Kodandaram should not toe the line of KCR’s false promise, he said, adding that the BJP would oppose and resist any initiatives by either Prof. Kodandaram or TJAC in reference to this particular demand. Nobody should support the demand of 12% Muslim reservation as it is unconstitutional, illegal and unfair, he added. (NSS)
